Following on from the success of her Lily Pond CAL (Crochet-Along), designer Jane Crowfoot has created a stunning crochet pattern for her new CAL, Frida’s Flowers.
Inspired by traditional Mexican folk art and Frida Kahlo’s colourful embroidered dresses, Jane has created a fresh new floral design for her new project.
The shades chosen reflect the traditional crewel work of Mexico which often features bold, bright colours on a dark background – and of course, Frida was known for her colourful floral headwear, so there are lots of flowers in the design.
Starting on 5th April 2016, instructions will be released in sections via the Stylecraft website at:
As with the Lily Pond CAL, there is also a dedicated Facebook page where you can upload pictures of your progress, swap hints and tips with other crocheters, and compare results.
Frida’s Flowers is an ideal opportunity for crocheters to improve their skills and is not intended for complete beginners.
The pattern will be released in 8 fortnightly instalments over 4 months and, after all parts have been released, the pattern will be available to download for free from Stylecraft CAL.
The official CAL will be created in Stylecraft Classique Cotton yarn and this pack contains alternative shades in Stylecraft Special DK.
